Assistant Manager Custodial Services GWGL (Finance)
RESPONSIBILITY LEVEL:
Implements and may provide input into strategic goals for Great Lakes custodial services. Oversees daily operations of team, ensuring work is performed as prescribed by policies and procedures to achieve productivity, service, and quality standards, and goals. Has familiarity with Great Lakes custodial services budget and manages team spend to meet budget targets. Typically works on projects and initiatives that span 3 - 12 months.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
1. Assigns and coordinates crew tasks and workload with crew teams for the purpose of maximizing efficiency of the crew, meeting shift requirements and completing tasks on time.
2. Coordinate and schedule equipment, supplies and labor distribution in order to maintain assigned corporate facilities and or contracted services.
3. Coordinate and oversee building inspections for cleanliness and recommend procedural changes, as necessary; provide immediate staff response to emergency conditions such as flood cleanup; ensure primary access to facilities are clear of snow and ice to safeguard staff & customer safety. Removal of other debris by buildings and structures by assigned custodial staff for designated area.
4. Review and revise work methods and procedures to assure efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with established regulations, policies, and standards. Oversee and coordinate the preventative maintenance and product evaluation programs and reports for employee supplies, equipment, and chemicals; maintain inventory records, order supplies, equipment and tools as needed.
5. Establish and maintain ongoing training program for all clients referred by Facility Support Team.
6. Perform quality assurance reviews during each shift at prescribed intervals. Provide follow up and resolution as needed.
7. Maintain safe work practices and conditions in accordance with OSHA standards. Ensure or provide appropriate equipment, resources, and training for all staff including safety or other training.
8. Leading and Developing Talent: Responsible for input on pay, performance appraisals, work schedules, day-to-day personnel issues, discipline and hiring. Actively networks and sources for positions within the team.
9. Project and Change Management: Periodically serves as a team member or subject matter expert for formal project or within the department. Contributes ideas and helps develop solutions while balancing demands of project work and routine job responsibilities. Supports management in the implementation of change. Engages effectively in change affecting her/him, communicating appropriately with supervisor. Follows through on learning, skill building, and practice necessary to adapt to change.
10. Problem Solving: Implements production and develops best practices. Provides oversight to staff, including advanced problem solving and customer service. Utilizes strong people skills to solve team issues. Resolves basic and moderately complex operational problems, elevating them to the manager as appropriate.
11. Technical Skill: Has understanding of subject matter and demonstrates advanced knowledge of field along with the in-depth 'why's' and supervisory experience. Has interpersonal skills in dealing with management and other departments.
12. Community Engagement: Champions Goodwill's community engagement initiatives. Is aware of Goodwill's community partner organizations and participates in volunteer opportunities as pertains to role and interest. Participates in industry/knowledge groups.
13. Responsible for completing other duties/responsibilities as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Two years of college education or experience equivalency. A minimum of 5 years' experience, or 2 years managerial experience.
2. Must have valid driver's license, necessary insurance and be able to legally operate a Goodwill vehicle.
3. Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.

PHYSICAL/SENSORY DEMANDS:
Regularly lifts and/or moves up 10 pounds, frequently lifts and/or moves up to 20 pounds, occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds. Moves about to accomplish tasks. Lift: Raises objects from lower to higher position or moves objects horizontally. Climb: Moves up or down ladders, stairs, scaffoldings, ramps and the like. Stoop, kneel crouch or crawl: Positions self to retrieve objects. Reach: Extending upwards or downwards to retrieve objects. Worker is subject to weather conditions (hot, humid, dry, cold etc.). Worker is subject to human blood, body fluids or tissue. Worker is subject to hazards: proximity to dangerous machinery, moving vehicles, electrical currents, chemicals, or high places. Remain stationary for extended periods of time, vision required to read material and instructions and inspect work and facilities, dexterity to operate equipment, travel required.
When determining placement within the salary range for this position Goodwill Greater Milwaukee & Chicago considers education, experience, internal equity, market demands and other qualifying criteria. It is not typical for individuals to be hired at or near the top of the rage for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on facts and circumstances of each case.
