Senior Manufacturing Engineer
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of advanced manufacturing processes and equipment. This role involves close collaboration with engineers, technicians, and production staff to ensure efficient and effective manufacturing operations. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer reports directly to the Director of Manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and implement innovative manufacturing processes and equipment.
Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and production staff to optimize manufacturing operations.
Oversee the entire manufacturing process to ensure quality and efficiency.
Provide technical guidance and support to the manufacturing team.
Continuously seek opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions.
Teach and coach team members on Value Stream Mapping processes, time studies, Kaizen events, Standard Work, audits/Gemba Walks, PFD, FMEA, Control Plan, Job Element Sheets, root cause analysis using 5-Why, Cause & Effect Diagram, A3 tools, New Product Introduction (NPI) validation, creating test validation plans, Gauge Studies, and statistical analysis.
Lead activities in addressing the voice of the customer information and addressing complex problems with new perspectives.
Integrate best practices and understand competitive differentiation in the market.
Drive continuous improvement through lean activities both internally and externally.
Act as a resource and mentor for team members with less experience.
Exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
Coach and mentor others on the use of problem-solving tools (5-Why, Logic Tree, Cause & Effect diagram, A3, etc.) to determine root cause analysis and derive countermeasures.
Impact a range of customers; operational, project, or service activities within own job function and other related disciplines, working within broad guidelines and policies.
Explain difficult or sensitive information and work to build consensus.
Mentor Technicians, other Engineers, Leads, and Supervisors to ensure manufacturing efficiencies are achieved and meet or exceed customer expectations.
Use professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.
Understand and apply lean principles, quality systems, statistical tools, and procedures.
Facilitate continuous improvement within business processes, new product development projects, supplier improvement efforts, and customer/product issues of complex scope.
Demonstrate exceptional judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
Network with senior key contacts outside their area of expertise.
Demonstrate a fair understanding of general business principles and a moderate level of market awareness.
Act with an understanding of how your role impacts the team and the Cost of Quality.
Perform other duties as assigned.
What We Are Looking For:
10+ years of experience and mastery in the use of Toyota Production Systems, quality systems, statistical tools, lean concepts, and procedures.
Capability to lead functional teams or projects with moderate resource requirements, risk, and complexity.
Ability to lead and teach best practices for internal or external business issues to improve manufacturing, products, or services.
Bachelor's degree in a technical field (e.g., mathematics, statistics, mechanical, manufacturing, industrial engineering) or equivalent experience with 10+ years of related experience and/or training.
Extensive experience with quality tools (PFD, FMEA, Control Plan, Leaders Standard Work, Gauge R&R, Statistical analysis, A3, etc.).
In-depth understanding and expertise in the implementation of lean manufacturing principles to continually improve processes.
Certifications such as CQM, ISO 9000/TS-16949 Lead Auditor, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, or Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, or equivalent experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools (Excel), Visio, Minitab, and company ERP system.

Salary Range: $125,000 to $185,000
