Role description:
Arcadis is seeking an entry-level Roadway/ Transportation Design Engineer to join the team in Chattanooga, Knoxville, or Nashville, TN. In this position, you will have the opportunity to be mentored and trained by technical experts in the field of transportation design.

This role sits within our Mobility GBA, and we partner with our clients across the globe to design thriving and connected cities and communities that enable opportunity for all and keep the world moving. Climate change, urbanization and digitization trends are requiring today's mobility projects and systems to address an evolving set of demands from the world's growing population. We design connected, sustainable solutions that integrate existing infrastructure with new technologies, and optimize the mobility of people and goods.
Role accountabilities:
As a Roadway Engineer you will have a variety of responsibilities, including the preparation of conceptual designs and construction plans through the utilization of OpenRoads design software. This involves the creation of engineering designs, encompassing geometric aspects of highways and streets, as well as drainage design involving hydrology and hydraulics.
You will play a crucial role in the completion of construction engineering and inspection tasks, along with the generation of transportation planning reports, roadway safety studies, and various traffic engineering projects. The collection of traffic and highway field data is a key component, as is the completion of Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control (EPSC) plans, inspections, and other stormwater-related projects.
To excel in this role, you will need a range of skills and qualities. The role requires proficiency in various software platforms, including Microstation, OpenRoads, and related design and office software. Proficiency in MS Office tools, a basic understanding of geometric and traffic operations principles (including AASHTO, MUTCD, and state DOT requirements/policies) are essential.
Exceptional organizational and time management skills, and a strong work ethic with a commitment to professional growth will contribute to your success in this role.

Arcadis offers benefits for full time and part time positions. These benefits include medical, dental, and vision, EAP, 401K, STD, LTD, AD&D, life insurance, paid parental leave, reward & recognition program and optional benefits including wellbeing benefits, adoption assistance and tuition reimbursement. We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $46,800 - $78,000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
