Commercial Estimator I (Maintenance)
Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
Review material and labor requirements to decide the more cost effective way to produce components.
Assess the cost effectiveness of products, projects, or services.
Prepare cost estimates, bids, and technical reports.
Types and designs customer presentation books.
Contact suppliers in regards to availability and costs on special order products.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
May be called upon to assist with special projects and assume responsibility for the development, administration and promotion of specific projects, as required.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as required and assigned.
Education/Experience
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience required.
Experience in the estimating field preferred but not required.

Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other structures.
Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems.
Knowledge of company products sufficient to look up/reference parts, products or component lists.
Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
Knowledge of company product pricing, discount and estimating formulas and guidelines.
Knowledge of basic math and measurement skills.
Good verbal and written communication skills.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Normal office conditions apply.
Employee must have clear, close vision for reading and computer work.
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, balance, stoop, grasp, talk, hear and operate computer keyboard.
Job may require reaching at or above shoulder level and below waist. Will occasionally lift/push/pull up to 25 pounds.
May be required to walk throughout the lumberyard or production environment to perform some aspects of assigned duties.
