Academic Tutor - Part Time (Education)
Position Summary:
Pueblo of Santa Ana is an At-Will Position.
Tutors will be available throughout the year to provide academic support to the students of the Pueblo of Santa Ana. Tutors administer baseline assessments, progress assessments, and summary reports to demonstrate student need and progress. Tutors also provide interdisciplinary assistance to students to improve academic achievement and enhance skills to pass required state and national tests and/ or to give input on accommodations/interventions for these tests and skills. Tutors will be utilized as a resource of information and guidance for parents and staff.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Assesses students need based on standardized assessments, formative assessments, progress monitoring, and tutor created baseline assessments.
Reviews student test scores from previous and current school year records to determine areas students need to develop their skills.
Creates an academic plan for each student based on above assessments and personal observations.
Provides daily activities in subjects of expertise based on collected data, to continue to develop student academic skills.
Works in tandem with a Student Profile based on academic need, career interests, assessments and observations.
Documents progress using data gathered from homework assignments, teacher, liaison, and tutor qualitative data, as well as above stated assessments.
Assists students with homework to support a good foundation in interdisciplinary skills.
Reports progress to the Education Program Manager and/or Director and parent(s) to share biweekly progress of activities and notes.
Assists staff with coordination of planned activities; determine materials needed for activities.
Takes initiative to follow up with students who are not showing up for services.
Always maintains professional conduct.
Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelors degree in Education or related field is required. A combination of experience and education including classroom experience may be substituted for education. Pay will be based on education and/or NM licensure level. Must enjoy working with children of all ages. Must be certified or willing to get certified in First Aid and CPR within 90 days of hire. Food handlers certification is preferred. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background investigation.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job. Employee regularly is required to stand, sit, use hands and fingers to handle or feel and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee occasionally is required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift
and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision. Peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
Work Environment:
Work is performed in a variety of settings, from office to outdoor environments and may include exposure to inclement weather. Nosie levels range from moderate to loud. Evening and/or weekend work may be required. There are frequent interactions with children, the public and employees.
