Research Assistant I - School of Dentistry (Finance)

UTHealth Houston's School of Dentistry is hiring for a Research Assistant I to join their team of professionals. The RA I will be responsible for:
- Assisting the pathologist in evaluating the head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) resection specimens stained virtually/digitally and comparing them with the corresponding standard of care H&E-stained sections for reporting surgical margin status.
- Collecting, de-identifying, and cataloging the virtually stained tissue sections and corresponding glass slides with H&E-stained sections of head and neck cancers for evaluation by the pathologist. Enter pathologists' evaluation data in the redcap.
- Deidentifying and performing high-resolution (40 X) whole slide scanning of H&E stained FFPE sections in SVS image format and uploading them in the PathPresenter for virtual microscopic evaluation by pathologists.

The ideal candidate will have experience with microscopic examination, histology, and digital whole slide scanning for virtual microscopy. Background in health data science and epidemiology of head and neck cancer is a plus!

This position is funded by grants that comprise 50% or more of the funding. Continued employment in this position is contingent upon the availability of funding for this position. Your employment may end upon the cancellation or discontinuation of the project, program, or funding.
