POSITION SUMMARY:
A Research Technician position is available in the lab of Dr. Dazhi Wang, Director of the Center for Regenerative Medicine. The selected candidate will work with lab members on projects investigating the molecular mechanisms that regulate muscle development and growth, and their role in human disease. The lab employs mouse cardiac and skeletal muscle models, as well as tissue culture. In particular, the lab studies transcriptional regulation and the roles of the and mechanisms for noncoding RNA-mediated post-transcriptional regulation. Ongoing studies are focused on the role of multiple lncRNAs in the regulation of gene expression in mouse models and normal and
diseased cardiovascular states.
DUTIES:
• Will assist with research design and management of the lab, including operation and maintenance of equipment and training lab members in use of equipment
• Applicant will design and perform bench-level experiments (molecular biology, cell biology/tissue culture)
• Will collect, organize, and analyze data for presentation and publication, and maintain experimental records
• Will prepare reports, tables, and figures and accurately present compiled findings to PI/lab members for use in manuscripts and grant applications
• Will assist with mouse colony maintenance and animal experiments/surgery
• Will assist with other research-related tasks as needed
• Will participate in lab meetings, grant writing, and manuscript preparation
• As a team, will work towards advancing your own career goals
QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience):
Minimum Qualifications:
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and three years of laboratory or research experience. College coursework in a natural or physical science may be substituted for the required experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
It is preferred that the candidate possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in biochemistry, molecular biology, immunology, or closely related field. It is also preferred that the candidate be self-motivated and independent/comfortable seeking and obtaining feedback from peers and colleagues. Excellent organization skills and familiarity with word processing and imaging software would be a plus. It is also preferred that the candidate be comfortable handing animals and have prior experience with mouse procedures and tissue culture.
