ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The Department of Pediatrics at the USF Health is part of The University of South Florida System is a high-impact, global research system dedicated to student success. POSITION SUMMARY:
The APRN performs professional nursing care for patients visiting the Pulmunary Clinics to include the management of patient care through organizing, prioritizing and coping with multi patients needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs professional nurse practitioner care according to established standards, practices, protocols and in accordance with the Florida Practice act for Advanced Practitioner Registered Nurses. Which includes Perform initial components of assessment of patient condition, including history and physical , and reports deviations from the norm. Making nursing diagnosis. Performs nursing care activities and administers medications and treatments.
Evaluates information obtained in terms of the medical plan of treatment and plans a program that provides maximum benefit. Assists patients and families to understand, accept and follow medical recommendations. Advises and teaches patients, family, and others on proper home and support programs. Counsels patients and families.
Performs regular reviews of medical treatment care plan. Evaluates and communicates patient response to interventions;communicate with the physician and other health care team members to initiate revisions to the plan of care is warranted.
In addition to the usual and customary duties of an RN, Nurse Practitioner may, within a framework of established protocols, monitor and alter drug therapy, initiate appropriate therapies in certain conditions, and perform other acts of diagnosis, treatment, and operation.
Maintains knowledge of current research, new interventions and technical advances in nursing practice, especially as it relates tot he population being served. Ensures safety and confidentiality within the clinic environment. Plays a key role in clinical research projects;initiation and implementation.
May perform other specified acts of medical and nursing care within the licensed specialty. Performs other duties as assigned.
Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university. Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities.Responsible for academic advising and related activities. May represent the university, college/school, or department.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
This position requires graduation from an accredited Advanced Registered Nurse Master's or Medical degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field of specialization or equivalent qualifications based on professional experience and otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Instructor.
This position requires graduation from an accredited Advanced Practice Registered Nurse academic degree program and certification as outlined in Florida Statutes 464 and Florida Administrative Code, Chapter 64. Candidates must be Board Certified/Board Eligible in .
PREFERRED:
Experience in Pulmunology
SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position may require a rotating work schedule to include on-call.
