ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The Florida Center for Emergency Medical Services (FL-CEMS) at the University of South Florida was established to implement innovative studies and explore critical areas of emergency medical services (EMS) known to have profound impacts on patient outcomes, EMS methodologies, and the public good. Its primary areas of focus include advancements in cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques, refinement of EMS educational curricula, enhancement of strategies leading to effective EMS research into disaster response, and the optimal function and design of EMS systems. Florida CEMS is a center within at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for leading various projects focused on creating, designing, and producing interactive and effective online instructional materials. This role requires strong presentation skills to engage diverse audiences in virtual settings and an ability to adapt to new and evolving technologies. To achieve effective training outcomes, the designer must also be well-versed in current standards and best practices.
This position requires a professional background in content development, including writing, editing, and graphic design skills. The Instructional Designer must be capable of producing engaging materials using various formats, such as video, audio, and web-based interactive systems. Collaboration with subject matter experts is essential to identify appropriate technology solutions for instructional and communication needs. Familiarity with instructional systems, design principles, and instructional technology is crucial.
While the focus of this job is content development, a combination of technical knowledge and skills in writing and graphic communication is necessary. Proficiency in multimedia production systems, web design, and interactive authoring tools like Articulate 360 and Adobe Premiere are required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Consulting: Assess and consult on client needs and materials. Review customer-provided materials for development, advise on optimal training solutions, and identify prospective audiences through evaluations and user personas. Develop proposals that align with identified learning needs. Consult on research design and data collection methods suitable for online learning environments.
Design: Curriculum development, design, continued monitoring and modifications in Learning Management System platform. Authoring and video editing tools. Expertise in Articulate 360 and Adobe Creative Suite required.
Evaluation and revisions: Establish processes for data collection and analysis. Evaluate training effectiveness: Gather and prioritize feedback on existing training content to provide necessary revisions that meet learner and client expectations. Identify and incorporate emerging trends that enhance training and instructional design practices.
Knowledge, Skills and Ability: Create and deliver engaging learning activities tailored to various audiences. Contribute to the design and selection of suitable learning environments and delivery techniques. Adapt materials to meet diverse learner needs. Specify content delivery methods and structure for learning materials. Manage instructional content's design, development, and maintenance to achieve desired outcomes. Design and test learning environments as needed. Understand client requirements and provide effective solutions based on data analysis. Contribute to the development and maintenance of a catalog of learning resources. Analyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of educational activities. Stay informed about relevant research in andragogy and instructional design.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
Bachelor's degree in communication, Adult Education, Design, or a related field. Two years of experience in a professional training or Instructional Design role or a master's degree in a related field.
FLSB1310 Equivalency:
4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.
6 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for master's degree.
PREFERRED:
A Master's degree in Instructional Design and clinical experience in the allied healthcare field.
