Millwright - Chip Facility (Maintenance)
Who you are:
You enjoy working outdoors and value communicating and collaborating with your coworkers. You have extensive mechanical knowledge and prior experience as a millwright in an industrial setting. You are safety minded, motivated and comfortable working on your own or in a small team. Most of all you are dependable, have integrity, like being productive, and look for ways to be more efficient.
Where youll work:
You will work at Green Diamonds Chip Facility dock located on Humboldt Bay in Fairhaven, California. This is a production facility which stores and ships wood chips. The wood chips are delivered from the area sawmills and loaded onto vessels bound for both domestic and overseas markets. Life by the bay is hard on exposed equipment. You will be part of a small team of employees who keep the mechanical operation of the facility in excellent working order.
What the job is:
Because of our location on the waterfront, there are many environmental rules we follow so maintaining the facility is critical. This job will be primarily focused on repair and maintenance of the structures and rolling stock. This includes welding, torching, grinding, greasing, carpentry, troubleshooting, and other needs as directed. You will be part of the team when loading vessels and barges by being onsite handling maintenance needs and responding to any significant mechanical failures that may occur. This position plays an essential role in keeping the Chip Facility in good working order and running efficiently. Due to the overseas aspects of our markets, you must have the ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) to be able to work on the dock at the facility when a vessel is in port.
Work Schedule:
For the majority of the year the average work schedule is 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. When a vessel arrives at the dock, schedules change and every individual is expected to be available. You may be asked to work the day shift or night shift while loading for up to 5 days straight during these periods.
Compensation Details:
The hourly range for this job is $25.00 to $36.53 depending on experience. The wage is just one part of Green Diamonds total compensation package. Other rewards include eligibility to receive an annual company financial bonus and a bonus based on your own performance.
