Laborer (Finance)
Under close supervision, selected candidates will perform manual labor tasks related to construction, maintenance, and recycling at landfill sites or other facilities. They will also assist with regular roadside and highway cleanup along County-maintained roads and highways, as well as clean catch basins and culverts within road right-of-ways.
The Transportation Department is looking for candidates with experience operating light equipment, such as handheld tools and construction equipment, including line trimmers, handsaws, wheelbarrows, and post-hole diggers.
Highly competitive candidates will possess knowledge and experience in road and highway maintenance, recycling at landfill sites, and waste management. Familiarity with operating trucks, including attaching and hauling trailers, loading and unloading trucks/trailers, and using heavy equipment like chainsaws, skid steer loaders, and backhoe loaders, is also desired.
Most of the duties for this position will involve outdoor work in challenging weather conditions, including rain, wind, and summer temperatures exceeding 115°F.

The County of Riverside Transportation & Land Management Agency (TLMA) is the umbrella agency for seven county departments. They are the Planning Department, Building & Safety Department, Transportation Department, Code Enforcement Department, Environmental Programs Department, Aviation Department, and the Administrative Services Department.• Assists skilled craftsmen in the performance of their duties by performing unskilled or routine phases of the work.
• Performs heavy manual labor tasks that may require use of hand tools, power tools and/or motorized equipment which require varying degrees of manual dexterity and coordination.
• Performs routine janitorial duties.
• In a training or backup capacity, may assist in and learn the operation of trucks and light construction equipment.Ability to: Read and write English at a level required for successful job performance; perform heavy manual labor tasks; learn the tasks and skills required; carry out instructions; get along with others. License/Certificate: Possession of a valid California Driver's License is required.
