POSITION SUMMARY:
The University of South Florida College of Nursing is seeking a dynamic, tenure/tenure-track Assistant Professor to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to advancing scholarly research, teaching excellence, and service contributions. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to an innovative academic environment while pursuing impactful research, mentoring students, and engaging in professional service.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain an independent, externally funded research program and contribute to the three core missions of the academic triad: teaching, mentoring, and service while conducting high-impact research. They will demonstrate excellence in all aspects of the academic mission, including producing high-impact research, employing innovative teaching and mentorship strategies, and contributing meaningfully to service activities. Faculty members are expected to maintain a robust, externally funded research program that advances the College's mission and reputation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
As an Assistant Professor on the Tenure/Tenure-Track the candidate will be responsible for developing and leading an independent research program, securing external funding, and publishing scholarly work in peer-reviewed journals. The role emphasizes conducting high-impact research and contributing to advancing knowledge in the field.
Faculty are also expected to engage in college and university service, participate in professional organizations, and contribute to community outreach. Must demonstrate significant progress toward meeting tenure requirements, with a focus on research productivity, grant development, and meaningful service.
Performs other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
Doctoral degree (PhD or DNP) in Nursing from an accredited institution.
Eligibility for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor according to university criteria.
History of or potential for securing substantive extramural funding and leading research enterprises.
Proven record of research productivity, including peer-reviewed publications and recognition as an Assistant professor in the field of specialization.
Commitment to advancing health parity and conducting high-impact research in areas such as aging, cancer control, sleep medicine, HIV prevention/treatment, or related fields.
Eligibility to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in Florida by the appointment date.
Vision and potential to position the College nationally through research contributions and collaboration.
