*Research Epidemiologist (Project Management)

Studies diseases within populations of humans. Investigates communicable disease outbreaks, chronic illness conditions, disease risk factors, or other adverse health outcomes. Collaborates with medical, public health researchers, and scientific researchers in the study design.  Evaluates public health programs and develops research instruments. Collects, manages and analyzes data. Interprets results, prepares reports, and publishes research.

Duties:

• Conducts research to develop methodologies, instrumentation and procedures for medical application and public health projects. Collaborates with medical, public health researchers, and scientific researchers.
• Designs, manages and evaluates study protocols and public health programs, including development of the research design, sample selection plans, and data analysis plans. 
• Collects data and performs data entry. 
• Analyzes large amounts of data and interprets data. Discusses data and findings with Sr. Research Epidemiologist before presenting findings to department head, collaborators, and researchers. 
• Assist with preparing manuscripts, reports and publishing findings.
• Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

Required Education: Master's Degree in Epidemiology, Statistics, or Mathematics.

Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept a Bachelor's Degree in Epidemiology, Statistics, or Mathematics and 24 months SAS, SPSS or equivalent experience in a public health or biomedical science environment.

Skills:

• Knowledge of biostatistics, statistics, mathematics, epidemiologic methods, and/or research design.
• Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems
• Effectively address research or program evaluation questions
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proficient computing skills using SAS, SPSS, or equivalent for data processing and analysis and Access or Excel for data management
