Masking Tech (Manufacturing)
Summary: Perform masking and racking duties for subsequent chemical processes and paint applications using tape, liquid maskants, and various other materials. This position will have a specific focus on safety, quality, and throughput within the masking department. Supports the department leadership and helps ensure masking is performed in accordance with masking aids using Catia, Adobe Illustrator, and other software. Works directly with the masking supervisor and the masking lead to promote a Lean and continuous improvement culture, constantly striving to find a better, cheaper, faster way to move parts through the masking department.
Responsibilities Level 1:
* Read and understand work order requirements.
* Identify parts with printed and/or electronic pictures.
* Must be capable of performing all paint/chemical processing preparation activities.
* Assists with overseeing the department personnel's performance to ensure they are meeting EHS Policies, Quality Requirements, Production Demands, and Customer Expectations.
* Troubleshoot all types of tapes, plugs and liquid maskants with the masking supervisor/manager and the quality engineer.
* Participates in and drives the Corrective Action Process in the Masking Department and assists other departments as required.
* Provides technical support for drawing and model interpretation to the quoting department as needed.
* Participates in the creation of masking aids to ensure compliance to drawing requirements.
* Participates in the creation of a masking aid library to assist in the reduction of masking errors.
* Handles customer-supplied product with care.
* May assist in other areas or perform other duties as required by business demands.
* Maintains safe and clean work environment; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures
* Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.
Qualifications Level 1:
* Must be able to pass basic skills assessment for Microsoft Excel and also demonstrate basic skills with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
* Must demonstrate the ability to understand and work with basic mathematical concepts
* Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints and customer and OEM specifications preferred.
* Must be able to complete assigned tasks in a timely and careful manner
* Must have the ability to troubleshoot and problem solve.
* Must have the ability to work independently and within a team environment.
* Must have excellent verbal, written and listening skills and have the ability to provide written and verbal instructions and present information clearly
* Must be able to capture and assimilate information quickly.
* Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
* Must exhibit professionalism when communicating with superiors and subordinates.
* Must demonstrate the ability to read, analyze, and follow work instructions and procedure manuals.
* Must have the ability and willingness to work extended hours and overtime, including weekends, as required by the work schedule and production needs
