Contract Logging Supervisor (Agriculture)
What the job is:
The Contract Logging Supervisor is responsible for managing contract harvesting operations and supervising employees who oversee contract felling and logging crews. This role involves harvest planning, ensuring overall operational cost-effectiveness, and achieving projected annual harvest for the California Timberlands. The supervisor ensures a safe working environment for both employees and contractors through a proactive approach to safety. Additionally, they assess individual harvest units to identify the most cost-effective harvest methods, all working within the framework of the company's Habitat Conservation Plans and state and local Timber Harvest Plan provisions.

Supervises a team of Logging Operations Administrators in all aspects of their duties. Negotiates competitive harvest rates with contractors. Encourages and promotes a safe working environment around operations. Evaluates harvest units to identify and recommend the most cost-efficient method of harvesting. Offers time for consultation with plan-writing foresters to assess units from a harvest engineering and cost perspective during the Timber Harvest Plan layout phase. Ensures negotiated harvest rates from subordinates are set at competitive industry prices as well as directly negotiating rates. Contributes to developing the divisions harvest budget targets and ensures harvest costs align with annual targets. Constantly monitors contractor production rates and makes capacity adjustments to ensure annual harvest volume targets are met. Coordinates with all departments to ensure all aspects of harvest operations are being run efficiently and adjust as needed. Maintains positive working relationships with federal and state agency representatives, county and local govenments, and adjacent landowners. Uses creative problem solving. Must be able to manage multiple projects and respond to unexpected changes to planned production schedules without resulting in downtime or lost productivity.
Where youll work:
You will work on 400,000 acres of privately held forest property located in Humboldt and Del Norte counties. Our offices are nestled in the forest where redwoods meet the Pacific Ocean.
Compensation Details:
Annual salary range: $79,040 - $118,560 per year. The wage is just one part of Green Diamonds total compensation package. Other rewards include eligibility to receive an annual company financial bonus and the opportunity to receive a performance-based bonus, candidate referral bonuses, and spot bonuses.
