The Retoucher is responsible for image correction and manipulation for food, product, and lifestyle photographs in a high-volume setting. Following industry best practices, they provide timely and consistent digital post-production services for all types of still photography assignments, working with photographers and art directors for retouching instruction and creative input. The Retoucher must have an artistic eye for color treatments or styles, consistency, and color accuracy. Their work ensures the best image representation in print or digital mediums and therefor presents all imagery for Publix in the best light, building the positive reputation of the Publix brand. The Retoucher is also responsible for image quality control and works with the Digital Asset team to perfect the workflow of images. Must be able to work in collaboration and be able to take art direction. In Publix's corporate offices, we value in-person interactions, similar to those our store associates have with customers. Many of Publix's corporate offices offer work from home up to two days a week. Each business area implements their policy differently and should be discussed during interviews.
Responsibilities include:
Retouching product photography images to a high standard, ensuring correct technical and color reproduction between image and physical product
Retouching a high volume of photo assets on a daily basis
Adhering to the Publix brand book and various style guides, creating/applying color presets as appropriate
Providing quality control and inspection of digital images across various workflows
Naming and maintaining digital asset file structure and uploading images to Digital Asset Management platform
Keeping photos organized and distribute in a timely manner
Assisting in product image retrieval
Cropping images and maintain file size specification guidelines
Performing quality assurance on all images
Staying up to date on industry and market trends, methods, and equipment.
Fostering professional growth of fellow associates
Ensuring all final assets get logged and properly tagged in the Digital Asset Management system and the Creative Team receives final files for use in Marketing campaigns
Associate degree in a graphics or photography field, or equivalent experience.
Three (3) years of image retouching experience in photography studio, agency, or editorial
Expert working knowledge of Photoshop, layers, masks, paths, color correction tools, actions and nondestructive workflow.
Highly skilled in color correction, image manipulation and restoration, and compositing
Skilled in media management
Ability to stay up to date on current styles and trends in retouching and general and post-production workflow
Ability to manage projects in an efficient and productive manner
