Job Title: Aircraft Mechanic III (C/KC-130T)

Location: New Orleans, LA (VR-54)

Task Description: Aircraft Mechanic III (23023):

Leads a team in the performance of aircraft maintenance, inspections, and scheduled / unscheduled maintenance. Processes the technical experience to supervise subordinate mechanics and provide technical guidance on maintenance operations on the airframe being supported. Capable of performing, supervising and inspecting the duties of Mechanic Is, IIs and IIIs. A person in this position maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures, structural components and engines of complex to extreme difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems and mechanical components, and applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies technical expertise in restoring equipment condition and operation. This worker also applies professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufactures' manuals. Work typically requires a thoroughly comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures and replacement of components, a thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair and the ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems. A detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers, etc. is required. Must possess the experience and ability to provide technical support to structural/mechanical engineers and customers alike, must possess excellent organizational skills in prioritizing workload to meet aircraft delivery schedule. This worker will be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records, and is responsible for providing guidance and technical expertise to lower level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance efforts.

Skill and Knowledge : Shall have the ability to troubleshoot malfunctions in various aircraft systems and be able to perform general Organizational Level maintenance and possess one or more of the specialties of the assigned aircraft below:

Power Plants and related Sub-Systems, Fuel and Air Systems, Prop Systems, Flight Control Systems, Airframe Structures and related Sub-Systems, Landing Gear Systems, Hydraulic/Pneumatic Systems, Environmental Control Systems, Power Distribution/Electrical/Automatic Flight Control and aircraft Lighting Systems, and Aircraft Logs and Records Administration

• Must be knowledgeable of technical directives, NAMP programs, and shall be knowledgeable of and understand basic supply procedures.
• Aircraft Mechanic III shall have experience writing with clarity and technical accuracy, and exhibit leadership and ensure adherence to all applicable policies and procedures.
• Possess a high degree of expertise in the control and coordination of aircraft maintenance.
• Thorough working knowledge of applicable maintenance/technical manuals and publications.
• Thorough working knowledge of aircraft maintenance records.
• Working understanding of the aircraft and aircraft systems.

Responsibility: Performs requirements in accordance with the procedures established in the PWS. Performs diagnosis and corrective actions, disassembles, inspects, evaluates, and accomplishes necessary repairs, lays out work according to technical instructions and technical directives. Determines what repairs, modifications, and part replacements are required. May be required to verify work performed by another for which he/she is qualified to perform.

Task Requirements:

• Performs duties as Airframe & Power Plant Mechanic on C-130 aircraft.
• May perform Lead duties as assigned.
• May perform CDQAR duties as assigned.
• Troubleshoot, repair and service C-130 aircraft components and engine systems.
• Conducts diagnosis of malfunctions.
• Perform maintenance, disassembly, rework, repair, replacement, re-assembly or adjustment of various aircraft component systems in accordance with technical specifications and engineering instructions.
• Maintain and supervise the repairs C-130 aircraft systems and components including, but not limited to T-56 engines, 54H60-77 propellers, auxiliary power units, flight controls, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, oxygen and mechanical components.
• Apply professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufacturers manuals / specifications.
• Performs corrosion control, enters in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verifies the work was performed satisfactorily, and other tasks as deemed necessary.
• Provides guidance and technical expertise to lower level technicians throughout all aircraft maintenance, inspection and/or modification efforts.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

• FAA Airframe and Power Plant License.
• 20 years' experience and 15 years' experience supporting C-130 aircraft.
• Ability to troubleshoot, isolate problems and repair all C-130 aircraft mechanical, electrical, engine and propeller systems.
• Experience on C-130 aircraft in the structural repair, fabrication, modification and installation of sheet metal parts, items, and assemblies.
• 8 years experience with the application and use of technical data and blueprints.
• Familiarity with the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP) or equivalent.
• CDQAR for Airframes, Power Plants, and Electrical Systems.
• APU/Engine Low Power/Engine Full Power Operator.
• Vibration Analysis Operator / Interpreter
• Tire and Wheel
• Hydraulic Contamination
• Licensed Forklift Operator
• A minimum of 3 years of documented aircraft supervisory experience.

Basic Qualifications:

• Aircraft Mechanic III shall have a minimum of 5 years specialized C-130, E-2 or P3 fixed wing propeller aircraft maintenance experience.
• Must have DOD SECRET clearance and be able to obtain Common Access Card (CAC).
• Ability to work a flexible work schedule that may include extended shifts, night shifts, holidays, and weekends if required.

Compensation

$42.26/hour

Other Compensation

Employees receive a minimum health and welfare benefit of $3.95 per hour paid up to 40 hours per week.
