JBP - Corporate Staff Accountant (Finance)

Reporting to the Corporate Controller for J.B. Poindexter & Co., the Staff Accountant will assist in multiple phases of closing and reporting, including: preparation of journal entries, financial statement analysis, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.

Essential Functions

• Assist Corporate Accounting department with accurate and timely month end close processes and requirements.
• Monthly balance sheet account reconciliations including cash.
• Prepare/enter required general ledger entries including bank/cash transactions in the ERP system of record (Oracle JD Edwards).
• Reconcile intercompany and intracompany between company entities.
• Prepare weekly summary financial updates for review by executive management.
• Review corporate department financial statements and provide variance commentary as necessary.
• Aid accounting management with quarterly reporting package preparation & distribution.
• Assist with providing requested support during all audits for all entities.
• Update Goodwill and Intangible Schedules quarterly.
• Perform ad hoc projects, reporting and analysis and other assignments as requested by Finance Management.

Skills and Requirements:

• B.S. or B.A. in Accounting or Finance required
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and high degree of typing accuracy required
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Highly motivated with initiative to learn
• Strong commitment to confidentiality and ethical accounting practices
• Experience with JD Edwards or other ERP system preferred
