Plant Engineer (Finance)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Coordinates environmental compliance actions and qualification with all public regulatory agencies (AQMD, Fire Department, Sanitation Department etc.), and operations personnel, company management.

Reviews current and proposed rules and regulations on air quality, water quality, and hazardous waste to determine the impact on company operations.

Attends workshops and hearings to determine how to clarify, report on and implement new proposed rules and regulations of governing company operations.

Completes and submits regulatory forms and reports with appropriate support for all permits and period reports.

Locates, selects and supervises specialized independent contractors to test and report on emissions and discharges of regulated substances.

Conceives, develops and coordinates design concepts to initiate required environmental compliance projects for revising, replacing or adding engineering controls.

Plans and implements environmental and other related construction projects utilizing vendors, contractors, consultants and in-house resources.

Supervises and coordinates project activities of contractors, consultants and vendors to assure performance and completion on time, within budget, and meeting installation and start up requirements.

Supports the Maintenance and Buildings and Grounds management and staff including writing of purchase requestions, approving payment of invoices, tracking MRO spending to budget and managing the preventative maintenance program (MAPCON).

Supports the activities of the maintenance staff to effectively use in-house and contract personnel for the maintenance and improvement of plant facilities and equipment.

Supports Emergency response activities and lead response efforts.

Point of Contact for Reach or other Environmental requests from customers, clients, etc.

Qualifications and Education (Required)

EDUCATION: BSME or BSChe or equivalent experience.

EXPERIENCE: 7 years in Engineering and Maintenance operations, including experience in the design and installation of production machinery. Working knowledge of electrical and electronic systems for production machinery preferred. Also knowledgeable of ovens, incinerators, presses, boilers, compliance audits, regulatory compliance, etc.

LANGUAGE SKILLS : Fluent English required. Spanish helpful.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Bachelors level engineering equations and calculations.

REASONING ABILITY: Strong analytical skills relating to machine construction and operation, including design of safety devices.
